These are mirrorless cameras which means without a mirror box, the system allows for much more compact and lighter bodies and lenses than classic DSLR cameras.

The G range is first of the mirrorless range. The G1 was first launched in 2008 as the world's first Digital Single Lens Mirrorless (DSLM) camera and marked the launch of the Micro Four Thirds System standard. This original has a resolution of 12.1MP.

The GH range provides an all-round camera with a strength in shooting videos for full-HD movies.

The GF range provides a compact and lightweight set of cameras. The GF1 was launched in 2009 and the smallest and lightest DSLM camera at the time. The GF1 reduced 35% in the volume and 26% in the weight of the DMC-G1.
